Couture épisode 1 : Le pantalon Thaï

Il y a quatre ans de cela, mon petit sac bien aimé que j’avais ramené du Viêt Nam a craqué. Je me suis donc retrouvée sans petit sac, et comme je savais exactement comment je le voulais je me suis dit que j’allais me le fabriquer moi-même. Il aurait deux compartiments, un pour mettre mes disques et mon inséparable baladeur CD, un autre pour mon carnet à dessins, avec des petites poches pour mes papiers, mes clés, mon adaptateur jack pour faire du piano électrique du lycée sans déranger avec mes écouteurs,… Je ne savais pas coudre mais ma mère a une machine à coudre et je me suis dit qu’elle m’apprendrait. Or je suis partie en vacances chez mon père avant de m’y mettre. Je lui ai parlé de mon projet de me fabriquer un sac, et, avec son amie, on a trouvé le tissu pour le faire, on a acheté les fermetures éclair (en fait on a trouvé un sac à 4 euros dans un bazar genre foire fouille avec tout plein de fermetures comme on voulait), et puis on s’est mis sur la grande table de la cuisine pour dessiner le patron sur le tissu, le découper, et puis on est passé à la couture. C’est l’amie de mon père qui l’a cousu, et moi j’ai bien observé comment elle faisait, pour arrêter le tissu, la couture, pour tourner à angle droit au milieu de la couture…

De retour à la maison, j’ai voulu essayer de coudre moi même. J’ai voulu choisir un truc pas trop compliqué, et j’ai décidé de faire un pantalon Thaï : ce sont deux grands rectangles de tissu avec un trou en forme de U au milieu d’un bord et cousus entre eux par ce U. Simple, quoi. Alors avec ma mère on est allées acheter le tissu. Et puis avec des vieux morceaux de tissu qui avaient servi a faire des poufs il y avait longtemps, je me suis familiarisée avec la machine, une vieille machine en métal, mais qui marche toujours très bien !

Alors déjà si vous connaissez pas, vous pouvez vous poser la question : mais qu’est-ce que c’est qu’un pantalon Thaï ?
Un pantalon Thaï déplié, ça ressemble à ça (c’est le premier que j’ai fait) :

Maintenant vous vous posez probablement la question : mais comment ça se met ce truc-là ?
Il y a trois étapes :

  1. On enjambe le pantalon de façon à avoir le bassin dans le U et donc les deux rectangles entre les jambes.

  2. On prend les deux pans de devant, on les sépare et on se les noue derrière le dos.

Et voilà il est mis !

Pour en faire un c’est simple : il faut mesurer son tour de taille, et essayer de mesurer l’épaisseur de son bassin (donc la largeur du U). Donc la largeur du rectangle mesurera le tour de taille plus la largeur du U, plus de quoi faire des ourlets de chaque côté. La longeur du rectangle mesurera la longueur de votre taille à vos chevilles ou vos talons (selon que vous aimez vos pantalons plus ou moins longs), plus de quoi faire les ourlets. La profondeur du U correspondra à la longueur de votre taille à votre entrejambe.

Patron pour le pantalon Thaï

Il faut en faire 2 identiques. Sur mon schéma, ce qui est en beige sera la taille effective de votre pantalon, et en blanc le tissu en plus pour les ourlets, sauf dans le U, j’ai simplement arrêté le tissu à la machine sans faire d’ourlet. J’ai commencé par coudre les deux rectangles ensemble par le U, c’est la seule couture qui assemble les deux pans de tissu. Ensuite j’ai fait les ourlets des côtés, puis ceux du bas du pantalon, et enfin celui de la taille, dans lequel j’ai glissé un ruban pour pouvoir attacher le pantalon.

Facultatif : si vous essayez votre pantalon et que vous trouvez qu’il a une forme conique pas très gracieuse, il vous faudra faire des pinces. Attention si vous choisissez les faire, le pantalon aura un devant et un derrière, donc il faudra trouver un moyen de reconnaître le devant du derrière, et cela peut par exemple être une couleur différente pour le ruban de devant et celui de derrière.
Gardez votre pantalon sur vous, armez vous d’épingles et faites des pinces comme indiqué ci-dessous :

Ensuite il vous faudra défaire le devant et faire les pinces de derrière.

Et c’est fini ! (Mouaha plus facile à dire qu’à faire ^^)

    j’en ai deux, dont un en soie, c’est ultra confortable et so sexy… enceinte, je ne portais que ça, tu le règles comme tu veux, que du bonheur ! Mais quand tu t’assois, si tu n’as pas le tour de main pour rabattre le tissu instinctivement, tu te découvres jusqu’en haut des cuisses…

    @Tilion : haha ça ! Le vent aussi c’est pas mal ^^ J’avais installé un bouton sur le côté du genou, au bord du tissu de dessous et sur la face intérieure du tissu de dessus, ça marchait plutôt bien, mais je l’ai mal fait alors ça tient plus, il faudrait que je le refasse.
    Sinon c’est clair que je ne connais pas beaucoup de coupes de pantalon aussi confortables ! C’est ma tenue fétiche pour tous les longs voyages en voiture. En hiver je mets un pantalon d’été assez fluide dessous, comme ça j’ai bien chaud, plus de courants d’air sur la peau et c’est confortaaaaaaable !

    Par taille du bassin j’entends l’épaisseur de ton bassin (tout droit entre ton nombril et ta colonne vertébrale disons, enfin mesure plutôt où c’est plus épais, mais on n’est pas à 2cm près je crois). Et le tour de taille c’est le tour de taille !

    Le U je l’ai fait au pifomètre :S Enfin il faut qu’il ait une forme de U plus qu’une forme de V.

    J’en avais fait un deuxième bleu, et j’avais pas fait les pinces aux mêmes endroits, je les avais faites à la taille et j’avais trouvé ça vachement moins joli. Moi c’était donc le deuxième que j’ai raté !

    Pas mal tes explications! Je cherchais des patrons de pantalon car je dois m e faire un pantalon d’échassière…le problème c’est qu’il faut imaginer des jambes avec 50cm en plus…et des genoux aussi larges que le bassin (à peu près)…forcément, une telle morphologie ça ne se voit pas dans la nature, alors les patrons… Je pense que je vais tenter le pantalon Thaï sur échasses.

    J’ai oublié: le problème c’est qu’il faut éviter qu’on voit les échasses. On verra. Si vous avez des idées, n’hésitez pas!

    Tu peux essayer de mettre des boutons le long des pan intérieurs pour éviter qu’il s’ouvre et qu’on voie les échasses ;) J’en avais mis seulement un au niveau du genou de chaque côté et ça s’ouvrait déjà beaucoup moins :) (Mais comme c’était du bricolage sans faire de trou au travers du tissu ça a pas tenu). L’idéal serait de percer les boutonnières le long de l’ourlet des pans qui sont recouverts, comme ça ils ne se voient pas de l’extérieur et n’empêchent pas les pans de devant de bouger.

    J’ai fais ton pantalon avec une amie, il nous a fallu deux heures. J’ai acheté un coton à 2€30, avec mon fil pour j’ai un super pantalon pour 8€.

    En fait pour les pinces ça dépend de ton tissu. Certains tissu tombent bien droits d’eux mêmes, et d’autres donnent la forme conique que je décris. N’aies pas peur, les pinces c’est moins compliqué que ça en a l’air ;-)
    Une fois que tu en seras là, tu verras bien si tu en as besoin ou non, et si tu en as besoin, je pense que ça te paraîtra plus simple avec le pantalon sur toi de voir comment il faut faire. Mais si tu as des soucis n’hésite pas à demander :-)

    Je suis un homme et ça fait plusieurs années que je porte des pantalons Thaï, le week-end, en vacances et même en ville à certains moments, et aujourd’hui j’avais envie de trouver un patron pour en réaliser un moi-même avec un bon tissu en lin bio.

    D’ailleurs, aurais-tu une idée de l’endroit où je puisse m’en procurer ?

    Non ! Personnellement, je défais les liens de devant, et je pose le pantalon (qui est toujours attaché à ma taille par les liens de derrière) sur mon épaule, pour qu’il ne pende ni par terre, ni dans les toilettes ! ;)

    Super tes explications….le passage concernant les pinces me semble un peu obscur cependant. Mais je verrai ça quand je me jetterai à l’eau….je voudrais en faire un pour mon mari, mais faut que je trouve un tissu adéquat….je ne sais pas trop….

    En effet il existe à ma connaissance deux sortes de pantalons thaï : celui que je propose avec les jambes du pantalon « ouvertes », et celui dont vous faites le lien dont les jambes sont des tubes fermés. Je ne sais pas comment on fabrique ce dernier, mais j’ai trouvé ce tuto de pantalon de pêcheur thaï, qui lui est bien ce que vous cherchez :)

    Ah oui il semblerait que les Crétois aient eu la même idée !
    J’appelle ce pantalon « pantalon thaï » parce que le premier que j’ai eu, je l’ai acheté dans un marché au Viêt Nam avec ma tante qui est née et qui vit là-bas, et elle me l’a présenté comme étant un pantalon Thaïlandais. En faisant des recherches en français et en anglais sur Google, en tapant pantalon thaïlandais on tombe sur les pantalons de pêcheur mais aussi sur les pantalons comme le mien.
    Alors peut-être que les asiatiques ont copié sur les crétois ou peut-être que les crétois ont copié sur les asiatiques, ou peut-être qu’ils ont eu la même idée chacun de leur côté, toujours est-il qu’on en trouve aussi en Asie !

    Bonjour,

    En cherchant un patron et une explication sur le pantalon portefeuille (ou Thaï) je suis tombée sur ton blog !!! Explication super claire qui ma permise de comprendre comment s’attache le pantalon XD

    Pour ma part je sais que des hommes en portes, ce sont des jongleurs d’une compagnie médiéval de spectacle de rue (jonglage et musique. Ils les attaches en bas pour le rendre boufant avec du tissu pour rentré dans le style médiéval. Avec des chaussures en cuire, cela rend bien !!!

    Moi j’en ai fait un pour mes BJD (ball jointed doll) des pouper en résine (qui son en photos sur mon deviant art), mon premier proto rend bien grâce à toi !!

    Coucou Loonie,

    Je suis thaïlandaise et je suis tombée sur ton site par hasard et je viens de lire cet article. Reprends moi si je me trompe mais je crois que le pantalon que tu montres ici est en fait un pantalon portefeuille. Le véritable pantalon thaï étant différent par le fait qu’il n’a pas les 2 pans de tissu sur les côtés. En tous cas merci pour ce tutoriel.
